John Wagner
Born and raised in Toowoomba, John Wagner has dedicated himself to family, business and philanthropy. He has remained at the forefront of advocating for and delivering innovation and transformational infrastructure in Australia and internationally.

John has extensive executive experience, leading global companies across diversified industries from Carbon Saving Concrete to Airports. He is widely known for his profound business insight, which has led him to grow Wagners, a now publicly listed multinational construction materials company.

Hailing from a family of intrepid entrepreneurs, John founded "Wagners" in Toowoomba together with his Father Henry and brothers Denis, Neill and Joe in 1989. Today, Wagners is one of Queensland's largest construction materials and mining services companies with an extensive footprint in domestic and international projects. John sits on the Board as a Non-Executive Director.

Currently, John is the Chairman of Wagner Corporation, a family-owned, Australian property, infrastructure development, investment and asset management company. Wagner Corporation owns and operates the Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport, Wellcamp Business Park and the Pinkenba Wharf on the Brisbane River. With over 30 years of experience in the construction materials industry, John's innate ability to negotiate, coupled with his vision for growth, has directly contributed to the further development of the Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport valued at $200 million, construction of the Qantas Pilot Academy and Queensland's largest airfreight fresh food exporting hub (Toowoomba Wellcamp Trade Distribution Centre).

As an innovative leader, John has brought several State, Federal and Regional Projects to the table, such as the Wellcamp Regional Accommodation Project (a 1,000-bed purpose-built regional accommodation centre valuing $195 million), the Wellcamp Aerospace and Defence Precinct Project in conjunction with Boeing Australia and the Wellcamp Entertainment Precinct ($175 million project incorporating motorsport, driver-training and 40,000 person performing arts venue).

John continues to drive innovation for a sustainable future and capacity to develop a strong legacy for the community.

John is kindly donating his time and expertise to Purpa with 100% of all fees raised to be donated to It’s a Bloke Thing.
